Care had to be taken with the increasing ebb not to get swept down on the island.. Dorus Mor can every bit as exciting as Corryvreckan under certain conditions and at one stage we were crabbing some 300 to 400 into the south going ebb in order to make Craignish Point. As soon as we crossed the tide rip running past Rubha na Traighe, the crab was kicked off and we enjoyed a gentle sail up the west side of Loch Craignish to anchor in Bagh Dun Mhuilig for lunch. Most of the crew took the opportunity to take the dinghy ashore to visit the ruins of Craignish Old Parish Church also known as St Maelrubha's Chapel, reputedly dating back to the 12th century. Reluctantly we raised the anchor at 15:00 and had a pleasant sail under the Genoa alone back to Crinan, still in brilliant sunshine. After fuelling, watering and scrubbing the yacht down at the boatyard we negotiated the locks into the canal and arrived back at Bellanoch by 17:30 to end a wonderful weekend. There could have been more wind however this was compensated by the copious hours of warm sunshine – this at the same time as the Gloucester and Tewkesbury floods! See route next!
