Page: Previous 1 2 3 4 5 6 Next His optimism unfortunately was not always based upon realism ! Tuesdays are clearly not good days in Split. Having just flown over the canals of Venice in baking sun we now found ourselves in the streets of Split themselves turned into canals ! We had, moments after we landed been engulfed in a huge storm. At the boat yard the dramatic thunderstorm continued with solid rain and the workmen hiding in their van. It was immediately clear that if this poor weather continued we were assured of quite a few days of being shore based. Regretfully this is what happened and we were finally 7 days on semi-dry land waiting for the completion and launch. When this arrived on the following Tuesday it was carried out in the immediate aftermath of yet another torrential storm. Instead of 10 days of casual cruising we had 3 days of purposeful motoring interspersed with some sailing directly to Dubrovnik.
