Kevin decided it was time to give Barbarella, his Oceanis 361, her first exercise of the year and called for volunteers for a long weekend in Mallorca. So four of us left Aberdeen at an unearthly hour on the morning of 2nd February and flew BA and EasyJet via Gatwick to Palma. Apart from the hot breakfast on BA, they were indistinguishable. It was only after booking that it appeared that BMI may have been £50 cheaper with the bags checked through. It’s worth checking prices daily.

Sunset over Cabo de Cal FigueraAfter arriving at the yacht in Can Pastilla marina (just 4 minutes from the airport!) it was decided to leave immediately and make some westing towards Santa Ponca. So, as there was no wind, we motored around Cabo de Cal Figuera, the western extremity of Palma bay, the sun setting (and the evening cooling) as we progressed. Throughout the trip the temperature varied from about 20oC in the sun with no wind to 11/12oC or less out of the sun in the wind. Think West of Scotland in July. The Eberspacher heater came into its own at night.
