Anchored in Cala Pi

5th February dawned cloudless with a light breeze from ENE. After a leisurely breakfast, (including for one person a Bolognese sandwich from yesterday’s leftovers!) we left can Pastilla at 0945 and sailed/motored past Cabo Blanco towards Cala Pi , having lunch in the cockpit along the way. At Cala Pi we were the only boat and spent a pleasant couple of hours at anchor over a glass of Blanc Pescadora.

Based on a previous experience of an uncomfortable night spent here it was decided to move on a few miles east to the marina at Puerto de Estanyol for the night. It was a fairly small marina and had room for us. A wander around the small town didn’t inspire much confidence; it appeared to consist of holiday apartments from the 50’s and 60’s which mass market tourism had passed by. There was hardly a soul to seen and the one bar we found had half a dozen locals watching the football. The one small grocery shop was closed for vacation. Back at the marina we had a beer in the marina bar.

We headed for the restaurant in the Marina at La Rapita a couple of miles along the coast, only to miss last orders. It was Sunday night in the quiet season after all! A taxi driver came to the rescue and took us to the Restaurant Ca’n Pep where we were welcomed with open arms and had an excellent meal.

Monday morning found us back in Can Pastilla after motoring around from Estanyol in calm conditions to end the first sail of the 2006. In total we had covered over 150 miles, not a bad start to the year.
